Message From Our Principal
Dear Snowy Range Academy Families,
October is a vibrant month on our campus, with the crisp air bringing energy to both our learning and our community spirit. This month, Iβm proud to share some exciting developments, as well as important safety reminders that keep our school a secure and welcoming place for all students.
π Striving to Become a Core Knowledge School of Distinction
As many of you know, our school is on a purposeful journey toward becoming a Core Knowledge School of Distinction. This recognition is given to schools that faithfully implement the Core Knowledge Sequence with depth, creativity, and integrity and it reflects our commitment to providing all students with a strong foundation in language arts, history, science, math, and the arts.
As part of this process, both teachers and parents will be filling out a survey to communicate your impressions of the Core Knowledge curriculum and implementation here at Snowy Range Academy. We ask every family to please fill out the survey (linked here) by October 7th.
Weβre excited to continue sharing our progress with you and involving families in this journey. Thank you for supporting our vision of educational excellence for every child.
π National School Bus Safety Week (October 20β24)
This month, we also recognize National School Bus Safety Week, a vital opportunity to reinforce the importance of safe behavior on and around school buses.
Here are a few key bus safety tips to please review with your children:
β At the Bus Stop:
Arrive early and wait in a safe spot away from the street.
Avoid roughhousing or playing near the curb.
β Getting On and Off the Bus:
Wait for the bus to stop completely and for the driver to signal itβs safe to board.
Always use the handrail and avoid rushing.
If you drop something near the bus, tell the driverβnever try to pick it up yourself.
β While Riding:
Stay seated, facing forward, and keep aisles clear.
Use quiet voices and respect the driver and other students.
Never stick hands, arms, or objects out of the windows.
Our bus drivers work hard to ensure each ride is safe, and we thank them for the critical role they play in our school community. Please join us in recognizing their dedication during this special week!
π A Month of Learning and Growth
October also brings a flurry of activity, including class projects, field trips, and deeper exploration into the curriculum. As we continue to build academic excellence, character ed values, and a love of learning, we encourage families to stay involved, whether through reading with your child, volunteering, or attending upcoming school events like our Homecoming Parade on October 4th!
Thank you for being a part of our school community. Together, we are building a strong foundation for every student, brick by brick, book by book.
With appreciation,
Caroline Hickerson
