The Snowy Range Academy Board of Education is comprised of nine board members who freely dedicate their time and energy to serving our school community. Our board members know that the students always come first; they make every decision with only the students’ best interests in mind.

The SRA Nominating Committee is seeking candidates to fill two parent and one community board-of-directors positions for a 2019–2022 term. The board meets once a month to administer and govern SRA. You can find information about the board, the by-laws, and the board member application form on this page. Board applications are due to the office no later than April 26, and elections will be at the annual meeting on May 1.
Governing Board Meetings
We invite the public to join our board of directors at our monthly meetings. We generally hold our meetings on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the Spanish room. However, there may be some exceptions or changes, so please visit this page to confirm the details.
Meet Our Board of Directors
About Cassie Miller
Cassie Miller is an SRA parent. She is currently a full-time realtor at Advantage Real Estate in downtown Laramie and holds degrees in P.E. teaching, k-12, and pastoral ministry. Cassie moved to Laramie 24 years ago and enjoys spending time with family and friends, practicing yoga, and playing music. Her goals as a board member are to help increase the enrollment of the school, guide the future expansion, and to give back to the SRA community that has so positively impacted her daughter and family.
About Dr. Pawan Jain
Dr. Pawan Jain is an assistant professor of finance at the University of Wyoming. He has authored several scholarly articles in leading finance and real estate journals. He has won several awards and honors for his high-quality research and outstanding teaching. He has made over 200 presentations at professional meetings and has also received invitations to present his research at several premier business schools, such as the University of Mississippi, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Indian Institute of Management, and Marquette University, among others. Dr. Jain has had his research featured in popular press and he has done interviews several times with the news channels for his opinion on stock market regulations, Blockchain, and high-frequency trading. Due to his expertise in the stock-market trading and regulations and real estate investment trusts, Dr. Jain has received invitations to present his research at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, Reserve Bank of India, and National Stock Exchange of India.
In addition to being an outstanding researcher, Dr. Jain is an excellent teacher. He challenges and inspires his students to find their passion and attempt to become a world expert. His coaching goes well beyond the classroom lecture experience. He travels with the students to leading global events and student competitions on investment research where students apply the textbook knowledge at a level that can help them secure the best employment opportunities in the field.
About Tod Scott
Tod Scott is SRA’s community board member. He has two children currently pursuing college degrees who previously attend SRA, and he credits SRA for much of their academic success. He has worked in operations at UW since 2003. Prior to that, he worked construction including constructing the original walls for SRA’s classrooms. He has a master’s degree in public administration from UW. Tod has lived in Laramie off and on most of his life but continuously since 1998. He enjoys softball, bowling, and riding his bike all over town. Tod firmly believes SRA has an excellent learning environment, and his goal as a board member is continued academic excellence at SRA.
About John Cowper
John Cowper is a native of Laramie, Wyoming and honored to be the principal of Snowy Range Academy. An educator, John has worked in Wyoming and Alaska as a speech-language pathologist, educational case manager, administrator, and presenter over the last 27 years. John believes every student should be afforded an education that prepares them for success in life. At the same time, he recognizes the hard work and dedication teachers put into planning and instruction to facilitate and support this success. John’s instructional leadership style reflects a balance where all students can achieve, and teachers are supported to make this possible. John received a degree in speech-language pathology and audiology in 1990 from the University of Wyoming and earned a master’s of education degree in communication disorders from Utah State University in 1994. Additionally, he completed his educational leadership certification in 2015 through the University of Wyoming. John enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons enjoying Wyoming outdoors.
About Shelly Donner
Mrs. Shelly Donner has been teaching at Snowy Range Academy since it opened in 2002. She has taught in kindergarten and second grade here in Wyoming and in Colorado. Shelly graduated from Colorado State University with a bachelor degree in civil engineering, which is where she got her love of spreadsheets and schedules. After working for an engineering firm she went back to school at the University of Colorado at Denver to get her masters in education. If you have time to stop in kindergarten, Mrs. Donner would love to have you visit or volunteer.
About Dr. Clayton Schultz
Dr. Clayton Schultz is an SRA parent. Three of his children currently attend SRA, with a fourth starting soon. For the past nine years, he has been the director of the WEST Institute of Shepherds Theological Seminary. Dr. Schultz began serving on the SRA board in 2017. He enjoys teaching, backpacking, rock climbing, and spending time with his family. His goals as a board member are to help ensure a good learning environment, increase learning opportunities, and help SRA expand its facilities.
About Lindsay Schumaker
Lindsay Schumaker is a parent board member for SRA. She holds a bachelor’s degree, master's degree, and professional license in civil engineering. She is currently a stay-at-home mom and serves on the City of Laramie Traffic Commission. Her oldest daughter, Anna, started at SRA as a kindergartner in 2018. Since that time, Lindsay has served the board on the grant writing and marketing committees. In her free time, she loves to travel, cook, read, hike, ski, and garden.
About Sheila Mueller
Sheila is a hard-working mother of three who joined the SRA community in 2010 when her daughter Saige was enrolled in kindergarten. Her son Dane also attends SRA as a third grader. Sheila was elected to the SRA board as a parent member in 2016 where she assumed the secretary role and moved to serve as the treasurer. She is currently the emeritus member on the board. She has lived in Laramie since 1988 and has worked at the local Toyota dealership as the comptroller/office manager for 15 years.
