The Snowy Range Academy Board of Education is comprised of nine board members who freely dedicate their time and energy to serving our school community. Our board members know that the students always come first; they make every decision with only the students’ best interests in mind.

About Cassie Miller
Cassie Miller is an SRA parent. She is currently a full-time realtor at Advantage Real Estate in downtown Laramie and holds degrees in P.E. teaching, k-12, and pastoral ministry. Cassie moved to Laramie 24 years ago and enjoys spending time with family and friends, practicing yoga, and playing music. Her goals as a board member are to help increase the enrollment of the school, guide the future expansion, and to give back to the SRA community that has so positively impacted her daughter and family.

About Lindsay Schumaker
Lindsay Schumaker is a parent board member for SRA. She holds a bachelor’s degree, master's degree, and professional license in civil engineering. She is currently a stay-at-home mom and serves on the City of Laramie Traffic Commission. Her oldest daughter, Anna, started at SRA as a kindergartner in 2018. Since that time, Lindsay has served the board on the grant writing and marketing committees. In her free time, she loves to travel, cook, read, hike, ski, and garden.

Dr. Kenneth Zheng

About Dr. Kenneth Zheng
Dr. Kenneth Zheng is an SRA parent. He works as an associate professor of accounting at the University of Wyoming College of Business. Prior to becoming a faculty member at UW in 2015, he taught at the State University of New York at Buffalo from 2011 to 2015. He has taught courses in managerial/cost accounting and financial accounting in his previous and current positions. Dr. Zheng has published a number of research papers in leading accounting and finance journals, reviewed and discussed papers for various academic journals and conferences, and presented his works at domestic and international conferences and other universities. Dr. Zheng has received multiple honors, awards, and scholarships through his academic career. Before pursuing his PhD in accounting at the University of Texas at Dallas, he worked in accounts payable and subsequently as a cost accountant for Rug Doctor, LP, a private company in Plano, Texas. He also volunteered and served as an instructor of English as a second language at Legacy Church in Plano, Texas.

About John Cowper
John Cowper is a native of Laramie, Wyoming and honored to be the principal of Snowy Range Academy. An educator, John has worked in Wyoming and Alaska as a speech-language pathologist, educational case manager, administrator, and presenter over the last 27 years. John believes every student should be afforded an education that prepares them for success in life. At the same time, he recognizes the hard work and dedication teachers put into planning and instruction to facilitate and support this success. John’s instructional leadership style reflects a balance where all students can achieve, and teachers are supported to make this possible. John received a degree in speech-language pathology and audiology in 1990 from the University of Wyoming and earned a master’s of education degree in communication disorders from Utah State University in 1994. Additionally, he completed his educational leadership certification in 2015 through the University of Wyoming. John enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons enjoying Wyoming outdoors.

About Derek Scasta
Dr. Scasta is an associate professor at the University of Wyoming in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Dr. Scasta holds a PhD from Oklahoma State University and has worked in education since 2004 providing a range of teaching, research, and consulting services. Dr. Scasta and his wife Angie have been married since 2004 and have three children enrolled at SRA.

About Dr. Clayton Schultz
Dr. Clayton Schultz is an SRA parent. Three of his children currently attend SRA, with a fourth starting soon. For the past nine years, he has been the director of the WEST Institute of Shepherds Theological Seminary. Dr. Schultz began serving on the SRA board in 2017. He enjoys teaching, backpacking, rock climbing, and spending time with his family. His goals as a board member are to help ensure a good learning environment, increase learning opportunities, and help SRA expand its facilities.

About Charlie Zhang
Dr. Charlie Zhang works as an assistant professor of construction management at the University of Wyoming. He is a licensed professional engineer. Before joining the UW in 2020, he worked as an associate professor of construction management at Eastern Kentucky University. He has over 13 years of civil engineering and construction project management experience. Dr. Zhang holds a PhD from the Illinois Institute of Technology. His area of expertise covers construction scheduling, estimating, bidding, and preconstruction service. Dr. Zhang teaches introduction to construction management, construction documents, cost estimating, construction scheduling, and construction economics.

About Eileen Johnson
Eileen Johnson is a community member on the SRA board. She is retired after 36 years of teaching students with special needs for 25 years and fourth grade for 11 years. Eileen moved to Laramie 40 years ago, married her husband, and was thrilled to teach any student at any level while raising her two sons. Traveling, camping, hiking, gardening, church, friends, and family, including three grandsons, keep her busy and happy. Her goals as a board member are to support continued excellence in education for students and staff at SRA.

About David Kling
David Kling is one of SRA’s community board members. David grew up in the Laramie community and attended the University of Wyoming where he received his B.S. in Finance and B.S. in Economics. He currently works as a Vice President with First Interstate Wealth Management and possesses a Series 7, General Securities License and a Series 66, Combined Uniform Securities and Registered Investment Advisor License. He earned the Certified Trust & Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation through the Institute of Certified Bankers in 2011 and obtained the designation of certified financial planner™ in 2017. In addition, David is also a licensed insurance producer within the State of Wyoming.
